Start with a 6 inch wide stencil. (fig.1). 

Add the adhesive and place it low as to leave adequate space for the name. Starting with black, write the name and outine it.  Add the stipple effect by bouncing the paint off the end of a clothespin being careful to not get any in the name area and add the crack lines. (This gives a stone or granite look that is very popular but the stippling can be unpredictable and may require some practice.)  Add the black inside the stencil and peel it. (fig.2). 

Next add yellow just inside the name, skull, and wings.  This gives a glowing effect. (fig.3).

Add red to orange fade to name and orange to the wings being careful not to paint over the yellow. (fig.4),

Finalize by using black to add the details to the skull and wings followed by brown shading. (fig.5).
